Why does God get all the credit, none of the blame?

My atheist friend, Hemant Mehta, posted on one of my biggest questions about faith. Why does God get credit for a life saved, but gets no blame for hundreds (or thousands) of lives lost?

Here he writes about God getting credit for one man pulled alive from the earthquake rubble in Italy while 227 others died.
