I just took the “belief-o-matic” quiz. Turns out I’m a “Secular Humanist,” whatever that means.
I’m a secular humanist?

I recently took this quiz myself, and if you don’t mind a little blog whoring, I published my reaction. The long and the short of my discovery was that responses of apathy and responses of theism were lumped together in the quiz. See the whole thing here, I think you’ll enjoy it.

You really don’t know what secular humanism is?
http://www.iheu.org/minimumstatement
“Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance, which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. It stands for the building of a more humane society through an ethic based on human and other natural values in the spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality.”
Or the American Humanist Association version:
http://www.americanhumanist.org/Who_We_Are/About_Humanism
Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.
There are longer descriptions, of course, like the Humanist Manifesto III.
